Primitive and Traditional Skills


Wilderness Means teach core skills, from the "empty-handed in the wilderness" perspective.


Some of the Skills sets offered:


  • Shelter

  • Fire by friction

  • Water procurement & treatment

  • Food procurement (animal- and plant-based)

  • Uses for utilitarian Items:

    • cordage and rope

    • tools from stone, bone, wood, etc.

    • hide processing and tanning

    • miscellaneous/other


Beyond these concrete core skills, courses provide instruction in soft skills, such as sharp awareness stalking and maintaining calm.


Traditional Skills courses are generally held in North America. Occasionally, additional locations will be offered.
