Earth Village Education Northern Viriginia

Earth Village Education is a nonprofit education center.

We envision a world of aware, self-reliant people who care for each other in sustainable communities on a healthy, wild planet. We teach adult classes in primitive earth skills, contemporary homesteading and ecological farming. We are located one hour west of Washington DC in the rolling hills of Virginia.

Empowering individuals. Building community. Living sustainably.  Honoring balance in Life.

We are a diverse group of people with a range of abilities and backgrounds who have chosen to farm, garden, create and teach keeping these values in mind.  From Manhattan to California, from conservative  to steampunk, from creatives to the Type A, this is us and we welcome all people! We encourage curiosity, creativity and collaboration. We know that when we both share and learn skills, friendships form and as we tune ourselves to the land, our connection to each other and Earth evolves. Awareness grows! With responsibility and resourcefulness we meet our needs and the needs of our students with peaceful, sustainable techniques that encourage biodiversity and healthy abundance. To us, this is caring, sharing and life.

Welcome to Earth Village Education!

At Earth Village Education our classes are creative, hands-on, welcoming events. Our instructors and students collaborate to create a learning community based on support and experiential learning as well as intellectual discovery. We enlist the best teachers and strive to offer classes that achieve both a breadth and depth of knowledge as we connect the task at hand to the world at large.

We hope you will join us at Earth Village Education where we believe connecting with the natural world and developing self-sufficiency will lead, quite simply, to a healthier planet and happier people.

At every class you can expect:

-Teachers who are not only experts in their field but also exceptional educators who are responsive to their student’s needs, questions, and experience levels.

-Course material designed to accommodate a wide range of prior student experience including beginner levels.

-Low student to teacher ratios and personalized instruction.

-Hands-on, learning-by-doing, experiential education. While there are some topics which are suited to short lectures, we make every class as interactive as possible. We know that through experience and exploration information becomes knowledge, knowledge becomes skills, and skills become internalized.

-To enjoy our farm as a retreat! You can immerse yourself in learning and the beauty of the natural landscape. Our farm is a continuous evolution of progress as we turn it into an ever-reaching teaching model with gardens, natural woods, animals, plants and indigenous water features.

Earth Village Education is always looking for qualified instructors to teach workshops on Permaculture, Homesteading, Wildcrafting and other related subjects. Contact them directly for more information.
